October and November are two perfect months to visit the Vail Valley. Off Season, as the locals call it, is a quiet time in the Rocky Mountains, a time to enjoy activities which you may not be able to enjoy during ski season. Businesses in Vail Village and Lionshead hand out candy from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Halloween. This is a fun, safe event for families and also amusing for those without young children to see all the festive costumes. This year, meet at the Vail Public Library from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for a Scarecrow Making Contest. From 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. be prepared to be scared at Halloween Story Hour. For the adults, there are a number bars and restaurants hosting costume contests throughout the Vail Valley, with big prize money!
