It’s a Wrap- Another Great Zipping Season is Almost Done

We’ve had a wonderful fall at Zip Adventures, with our most successful year coming to a close.  This off-season has been one of our best ever, and we have hosted hundreds of wonderful local and vacationing families, wedding parties and corporate retreats  over the last 3 wonderful autumn months.  We’ve had all kids of weather, from brilliant warm blue-sky days to brisk pre-winter winds to early season snow, and our guests have been happily zipping through it all (including a very pesky Halloween witch with a broomstick!).  There is still one fabulous week remaining in the 2013 Zip Adventures season, which officially closes on December 1.  We are open through Thanksgiving week, so be sure to carve out some time for a zipline tour after carving a few turns on the hill.

While we are on a short winter break through April, there is so much to look forward to in the Vail Valley!  Vail Mountain opened November 22 with an incredible early season base, 4 lifts and a terrain park all ready for November shredders and skiers.  Beaver Creek will open on Wednesday, November 27, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday as well as one of the most exciting events Beaver Creek has ever hosted in its history.  The weekend of November 29-December 1 marks the opening of the brand new Raptor women’s downhill course in Beaver Creek, which has been under construction for summers in preparation for the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships.

This course is already legendary among the World Cup circuit, as the sister run of the most challenging men’s downhill course in the world, the Birds of Prey downhill.  The new Raptor downhill course incorporates portions of Solitude, Peregrine and Golden Eagle, along with two new trail sections named “Kestrel”. The course, located skier’s right of Birds of Prey, will join the men’s course at the Red Tail Jump and then flow into the current finish arena. The men will follow suit a week later December 6-8 as they take the stage for their races. The two weekends signify the official start to the busy ski and social seasons in Vail and Beaver Creek, and the events are free for spectators on all 6 race days.

December fun continues with Snowdaze, a 2 day outdoor concert festival on December 14 & 15, featuring Rebelution and Big Head Todd & the Monsters.  More music legends will rock Vail later in the month on New Year’s Eve as Mix Master Mike from the Beastie Boys brings down the house to ring in 2014.

More amazing mountain spectating is coming up later this winter when the Burton US Open returns for its second year in Vail This iconic snowboard competition brings the most elite snowboarders in the world together competition for the most beloved title in professional snowboarding. Watch world-famous riders Shaun White, Louie Vito, Kelly Clark and Hannah Teter compete in the Superpipe and Slopestyle courses on Gold Peak in the biggest on-mountain competition, and party, of the winter.

The Zip Adventures staff will be around town enjoying all the wonderful activities the Vail Valley winter has to offer. We wish you a wonderful winter and we look forward to seeing all of our guests back in the spring for Zip Adventures’ 2014 season!
